1. Who we are
Platinum Together is an independent fan project operated by one independent developer (the “Operator,” “we,” “us” or “our”), as described in the Terms and Conditions. The Operator decides how the personal information described in this policy is used and is responsible for it.
Privacy questions and requests: [email protected].
Platinum Together is not affiliated with, sponsored, approved or endorsed by Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company. Those companies do not receive information from this project.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers the website at platinumtogether.online, the Platinum Together launcher and installer, the game’s online and co-op features, the Sprite Creator and Community library, project-operated Discord bots, and support through Ko-fi (the “Services”).
It does not cover Discord, Ko-fi, payment processors or other third-party platforms, which handle information under their own privacy notices. Our Cookies Policy explains the cookies and browser storage the website uses.
3. What we collect
Your Discord account
Online features, beta downloads and the Community library use Discord to sign you in. We do not see or store your Discord password. When you sign in, Discord tells us your Discord user ID, username, display name and profile picture link. For beta downloads and launcher sign-in, we also check that your account is a member of the Platinum Together Discord server. If you sign in to the launcher by typing your Discord username, our Discord bot finds that member of the server and sends a one-time sign-in code by direct message.
Your online profile
When you play online, we keep an account record linked to your Discord user ID, your trainer’s name, look and outfit, total playtime and number of sessions, the worlds and parties you belong to, your friends list, your guild and guild progress, and Pokémon and items you store or trade through online features. We also keep a record of any restriction or ban on the account.
Things you send us
- Applications: answers to a moderator or beta application, including your Discord username, time zone and availability.
- Community library: artwork, trainer packs, names and descriptions you submit, and the review and moderation records for them.
- Messages: emails, Discord messages, bug reports and support requests you choose to send, including any screenshots or files you attach.
- Chat: messages you type in the game are delivered to the players you are playing with. If a message is reported, we may review it to enforce the Player Guidelines.
Automatic problem reports
When the game crashes, disconnects or fails to connect, the launcher sends a short report while you are signed in, so problems can be found and fixed. A report contains a reference ID that is also shown to you, a session ID, the game build, the kind of problem, the time between events, fixed event codes, numeric error and exit codes, and code locations inside the game program.
A report does not contain your name, file paths, hardware IDs, saves, screenshots, chat or anything you typed. Detailed logs and notes you make with the in-game report screen stay on your PC unless you choose to send them.
Fair play
The game checks that its own files have not been changed and the online services check that progress and Pokémon follow the game’s rules. The results of these checks may be recorded with your account.
Technical information
Any server you connect to receives your IP address, along with basic information such as your browser or launcher version and the time of the request. Cloudflare, which hosts the website and downloads, processes this to deliver pages and block abuse. To limit repeated requests, some Services store a keyed one-way code made from your IP address and the date instead of the address itself; it changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address.
Support payments
When you support the project through Ko-fi, we receive the information described in section 9 of the Terms and Conditions, such as your supporter name, contact email, payment amount and status. Ko-fi and your payment processor handle your card or account details; we never receive them.
4. What stays on your PC
Your game saves, settings, controls, local logs and the in-game report notes are stored on your PC and are not uploaded by default. The launcher stores a sign-in key on your PC so you stay signed in. Sprite Creator projects you make on the website are kept in your browser’s storage and stay on your device until you choose to submit them.
The game needs an official game copy that you supply. That copy stays on your PC and is never sent to us.
5. How we use it
We use information to:
- sign you in, run online play, co-op, friends, guilds, parties and trades, and deliver downloads and updates;
- keep the Services fair and safe, including detecting cheating, abuse and fraud, and enforcing the Terms and Player Guidelines;
- find and fix crashes, connection problems and other bugs;
- review, publish and moderate Community library submissions and applications;
- answer messages, manage memberships and supporter benefits, and handle refunds;
- comply with the law and protect the rights and safety of players and others.
We do not sell or rent personal information, show advertising, or build advertising profiles. We will not use your information or your submissions for a purpose that is not described in this policy without telling you first and, where required, asking for your permission.
Automatic checks may end a game session that fails a fair-play check. Decisions to ban or restrict an account are made by a person, and you can ask for a review using the contact above.
6. Legal bases
Where the law requires a legal basis, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we rely on:
- performing our agreement with you to provide the Services you ask for, such as sign-in, online play and downloads;
- legitimate interests in keeping the Services secure, fair and working, fixing problems and moderating the community, balanced against your rights;
- consent where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time without affecting earlier use;
- legal obligations, such as keeping payment records or responding to valid legal requests.
7. What other players see
Other players can see your trainer name, look and outfit, badges and titles, your friend or guild status with them, and messages you send them. Players can find you as a friend by your username. Approved Community library packs show the creator name and Discord profile picture you choose to publish with them.
When you host or join a world directly with friends, your PCs connect to each other and the other players can see your IP address. Only share a world’s join code with people you trust. The host can lock a world so nobody new can join.
9. How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Online account and profile | While your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it |
| Restriction and ban records | As long as needed to enforce the restriction and handle reviews |
| Automatic problem reports | Up to 30 days on our server; the copy in the private staff channel is removed on request |
| Website sign-in sessions | 1 hour for beta downloads, 24 hours for the Community library |
| Applications | Until the application is decided, then as long as needed to manage the role, or until you ask us to delete it |
| Community library submissions | While published or under review, or until you withdraw them |
| Support and payment records | As long as needed for memberships, refunds, disputes and recordkeeping obligations |
| Emails and support messages | As long as needed to resolve your request |
Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule, so deleted information can remain in a backup for a short time before it is replaced.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information or your online account;
- stop or limit a use you object to, or withdraw consent you gave.
Email [email protected] with your Discord username. We may ask you to confirm the request from your Discord account so nobody else can make it for you. We will answer within one month, or tell you why we need longer where the law allows it. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Deleting your online account removes your trainer, friends, guild membership and the Pokémon and items stored online. Saves on your PC are not affected. We may keep information we must keep by law, need for a pending dispute, or need to enforce a ban.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to fix the problem first.
11. U.S. state privacy notices
Some U.S. states, including California, give residents rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information and to opt out of its sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use for profiling. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. The categories we collect are identifiers (such as Discord user ID and IP address), account and game activity, payment-related records, and messages you send. You may use an authorized agent to make a request; we may ask the agent to show your signed permission.
12. Children
Online features require a Discord account, and Discord requires users to be at least 13, or older where local law sets a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Security
Connections to the Services are encrypted. Launcher requests and updates are signed, sign-in sessions expire, and access to private records is limited to what the Operator needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires it.
14. Where it is processed
The Operator is based in the United States, and information is processed there and wherever our service providers operate. Where the law requires safeguards for information transferred from your country, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
15. Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the Services or our use of information changes, change the date above, and give reasonable notice of important changes on the website or in the Discord server. A change does not apply to information collected earlier in a way that would need your permission until you give it.
