Patch notes
Version 0.1.18 patch notes
NEW
- Catching a Pokémon now gives EXP, like the newer games.
- Wild double battles on your own: you can catch either Pokémon while both are still standing. The battle goes on with the other one. (Not in Nuzlocke worlds, where the first one you met is the area's catch.)
- Pokémon caught while a battle is still going (and your partner's catches in a team-up) get their nickname screen as soon as the battle ends.
- Randomized worlds: every evolution changes now, not just one in four. The RULES tab and the WORLD settings page show the world's randomizer settings.
- Friends with different small rules (level caps, Nuzlocke rules, the Pokémon pool) can play together now. While you visit, the host's rules apply. Your own world doesn't change.
- Rare grass patches sparkle again, with way more stars. They had stopped showing in 0.1.14.
- Roaming legendaries use the same shiny odds as other wild Pokémon: twice the original game's, and better with Shiny Charms. Heads up: a legendary that's already roaming in your world still has its old odds. This is only for roamers that get released after you update (for example Mesprit and Cresselia, or one that comes back after the Elite Four). Roamers that are already out aren't fixed yet; that's coming in a later update.
- Battles: stat change tags next to the HP boxes, like Showdown, and faster HP and EXP bars.
- Rook and Mara are retired for now. They'll be back later, more polished. If your save used one of them it switches to a Classic trainer and the game tells you. Other players who picked them show as Lucas or Dawn.
- The world-name box: Ctrl+A or a double or triple click selects the whole name.
Battles and co-op
- Trainer battles with a friend happen together now. Before, you both fought alone when the same trainer spotted you both.
- Friend and Duo battles were refused with "teams or world settings may not match" way too often. They follow the same rules as trading now, and the message tells you the real reason.
- Your level cap comes from your own badges, not your friends'. That also fixes a Duallocke cap held back by a friend who stopped playing.
- Rejoining a friend after the two of you swapped hosts no longer starts a new save.
- The Story Rally no longer gets stuck with three trainers in Sandgem, and a trainer who can't make it no longer holds everyone up.
- Cheryl and the other walking partners: no more invisible Cheryl or crashes in Eterna Forest with friends. Each trainer walks with their own partner, and saves where she was already lost are repaired.
- Joining by code no longer says "too many tries" when the real problem is that a new version is out.
- Co-op double battles: your Pokémon's EXP bar no longer fills one award late.
- Your trainer shows at the start of a battle again, instead of a Poké Ball floating alone. The YOU IN BATTLE help explains it better.
Nuzlocke and challenge runs
- Lumi's story was erasing Routes 201–216 from Nuzlocke runs: encounters disappeared, Soul Link pairs got stuck on WAITING and a second catch was allowed. Her story could also get mixed up by the run. Both are fixed, and saves are repaired by themselves the first time you load them.
- Team-up wild battles now record your catch, so an area no longer stays used with nothing in the Encounter Ledger, and Soul Link pairs no longer wait forever.
- The dupes clause counts whole evolution families.
- Monolocke: an area used up by a Pokémon outside your type opens again.
Crashes
- A crash when pressing LEFT over and over as the briefcase opens.
- A crash in thunderstorms.
- A rare crash on the first tap in a Wi-Fi Plaza minigame.
Getting around
- Slot machines: Escape (or B on a controller) leaves the machine while the reels are still. You can also click EXIT on the machine's top bar.
- Coming back from the Rift Watch keeps you on bridges, at the right height, and on your bike or surfing as you left. From a Gym with a puzzle, you come back in through the door.
- UNSTUCK indoors takes you to the door.
- Trainers walking up to you no longer stand on top of you or your Pokémon, and your following Pokémon no longer ends up on top of a trainer.
Menus and screens
- Pressing B or X on a Pokémon's summary in the PC no longer closes the whole PC.
- The pause menu fits on screen with UNSTUCK in it, and the digging help card's words fit.
- The party and Pokétch side panels no longer flicker.
- Mail is no longer lost when a Pokémon holding it goes to a box (trade, Global Box, Graveyard). It goes to the PC mailbox. Letters that were already stuck can be read and taken again.
- SKIP AHEAD's shiny starter is the one you actually get.
- The healing pose at the Pokémon Center shows for every trainer.
- The Great Marsh water looks right.
WEBSITE AND WIKI
- The wiki is updated for 0.1.18.
- New wiki page: Game modes. Every kind of world and challenge preset, the rules each one starts with, and every option you can change, all on one page (suggestion #283).
- New Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy pages. The Terms are now called Terms and Conditions. All of them are linked from the site's menu and page footers.
