Version 0.1.14 patch notes

CRASH AND BUG FIXES FROM YOUR REPORTS

  • Trading is no longer blocked by an old trade. "Your last trade isn't sorted out yet" stopped every new trade, even with a friend standing right beside you, until 7 days had passed. Now the old trade is set aside and the new one goes ahead. The old one still sorts itself out when you meet that friend again.
  • A sound repeating over and over, then a crash: a move like Rock Tomb plays its sound several times in quick succession, and the game could lose track of a sound that was still playing. It kept looping, and the game could then crash. The sound system now handles this safely.
  • Skipping the Pokétch quiz no longer crashes. Answering YES to "Skip the Pokétch quiz?" in Jubilife City crashed the game every time, alone or in co-op. You now get the Pokétch and carry on.
  • Battles no longer run at double speed. Moves, text and health bars played twice as fast as the original game. Every battle now plays at the original game's pace.
  • Music no longer slows down. Music could drop to about half speed, for example in Jubilife, at night, with headphones plugged in mid-battle, with a second sound device, or on a busy PC. Music now keeps its proper tempo whatever your PC is doing.
  • Pokémon no longer vanish from the Global Box. Opening the Global Box could wipe a Pokémon you had just put in, most often a Ninjask after Shedinja appeared. Fixed for good.
  • Twinleaf Town: you can no longer get stuck behind the guitarist. Walking up to your rival's door after he had left played the door scene again and put the guitarist back in the way of Route 201, with no way past. He now always lets you through once your rival has left home, and saves already stuck this way are freed when you enter Twinleaf Town.
  • NO GRIND no longer raises your level cap in towns. Towns and cities with water used their Surf level for NO GRIND, so arriving in Twinleaf could set a new team's cap to Lv. 14. Towns and cities are now skipped.
  • Ash-Greninja looks and reads right. A Greninja with Battle Bond hit harder after changing but still looked like a normal Greninja, and the battle summary showed its old stats. It now shows Ash-Greninja's own front and back pictures, and the POKéMON screen and summary in battle show Ash-Greninja's real stats.
  • Blurry foes with SMOOTHING on: during moves like Psychic or Double Team, or when a Poké Ball is thrown, the foe's picture went blurry. Battles now always stay pixel-sharp. 27 newer moves changed the wrong stats. Fixed: Victory Dance, Noble Roar, Tearful Look, Work Up, Shell Smash, Shift Gear, V-create, Decorate, Gear Up, Magnetic Flux, Rototiller, Aromatic Mist, Venom Drench, Autotomize, Tidy Up, Tar Shot, Fillet Away, Take Heart, Meteor Beam, Electro Shot, Scale Shot, Make It Rain, Silk Trap, Sticky Web, Parting Shot, Toxic Thread and Octolock. For example, Shell Smash now raises Attack, Sp. Atk and Speed by two and lowers Defense and Sp. Def by one, and Noble Roar lowers Attack and Sp. Atk.
  • Sizzly Slide no longer freezes the battle for a moment after it lands. Its sound outlasted its animation, and the battle waited for it.
  • The left arrow on BATTLE COLORS, HEALTH BAR and UPSCALER only went forward. Left now steps back and right steps forward.
  • Settings › WORLD did nothing when chosen. It now opens the WORLD page.
  • "Pokémon" showed as "Pokémon" on the WORLD page and in the scratch-card help, in every language. Fixed.
  • The new Pokémon's menu icons were drawn in one flat colour. All 65 now have their own colours in the party, PC, bag and Pokédex lists.
  • MORE POKéMON / MODERN POKéMON mix-up: Misdreavus, Murkrow, Glameow, Trapinch and Vibrava are Platinum's own Pokémon, so they now appear with MORE POKéMON on, not MODERN POKéMON.
  • Event gifts now come once to each player, across all your worlds.
  • Tall grass looks like Platinum's again. The redrawn tall grass, and Route 210's blurry very tall grass, are gone: every route has the game's own grass back.
  • Rare grass is easy to spot: little shiny stars twinkle over today's rare patches. (Before, they only looked a bit taller.)
  • Soul Link: tagging up with a friend no longer uses up the friend's route. In a wild double battle, a route only counts for you if you catch a Pokémon there yourself.
  • Tag battles: a battle with your tagged friend no longer takes a long time to start and then leaves you fighting alone. The two games now keep their battle link with each other the whole time you're tagged, and check it again the moment a battle starts.
  • Tag invites: an invite sent right after joining a friend's world is no longer lost. It keeps asking until your friend's game answers.
  • A Pokémon caught in a double battle could still attack. In a tag battle with a friend, a wild Pokémon caught before its turn still used its move. It now leaves the battle the moment it's caught.
  • Walked into a wall in Professor Rowan's lab: with a friend, the lab's scene could start late, and its walk then started from wherever you stood, taking you into the wall. Scenes that start as you arrive now bring everyone back to the door first. This covers every such scene, not just the lab.
  • BACK TO LAST SAVE (Ctrl+R) with friends no longer leaves a friend behind: if anyone leaves while everyone is deciding, nobody goes back. (Going back without passing through the title screen is coming in the next update.)
  • "Your friend left the battle" right as a battle with a friend began: the battle was really called off before it started, most often because one game refused the other's team (for example, one world with MODERN POKéMON on and the other off). It now says so: "The battle couldn't start. Your teams or world settings may not match." Tag battles also no longer move their link while a battle is starting.
  • Falling snow no longer turns into rings with SMOOTHING (F4) on.
  • Monotype with a friend: in a wild double battle, both wild Pokémon are now checked against your type. You can't throw a ball at the wrong-type one, and the Bag tells you when no wild Pokémon left is your type. The new Pokémon (MODERN POKéMON) now count by their real types too.

FAIR PLAY

  • RNG manipulation no longer works.
  • Play offline keeps your online worlds safe: a world you've played online opens as an offline copy, "[world name] (offline)", and your online world stays exactly as it was.
  • Cheating, or changing the game to cheat, breaks Platinum Together's rules and gets you banned from Online.

NEW: MORE SHINIES

  • Shiny Pokémon are twice as common: a wild Pokémon is now shiny about 1 time in 4,096 instead of 1 in 8,192.

NEW: HANDY ITEMS AND UNSTUCK

  • Auto-Heal Kit: one press heals your whole team with the medicine already in your Bag, cheapest first, then cures poison, burns and the rest, and tells you what it used. It never revives. You get it once you have the Pokédex.
  • Encounter Ledger: in a Nuzlocke or challenge run, opens your run's page: every route's first encounter, the Graveyard and your Soul Links. No more writing routes down.
  • Loadout Case: save up to three teams (order and held items) and switch between them at any Pokémon Center. It only uses Pokémon and items you really have, and nothing is ever lost: if anything doesn't add up, your team stays as it was. You get it with the Coal Badge.
  • UNSTUCK in the pause menu: takes you to the nearest Pokémon Center you've visited. It can be used once an hour, and only where you could Fly or use an Escape Rope.

NEW: BATTLES

  • Newer type rules, when MODERN POKéMON is on (your suggestion #238): With MODERN POKéMON off, Platinum's original rules stay.
    • Grass types aren't affected by powder and spore moves: Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Spore, Cotton Spore and Magic Powder. "It doesn't affect…"
    • Electric types can never be paralyzed: not by Thunder Wave, Glare or Body Slam, nor by Static.
    • Ghost types can always switch out, and always run from wild battles, even against Mean Look, Block, Spider Web, binding moves, Shadow Tag and Arena Trap. Only their own Ingrain and Sky Drop still hold them.
  • 103 newer moves now have their own animations instead of borrowed ones, including: Accelerock, Axe Kick, Body Press, Collision Course, Diamond Storm, Drill Run, Freeze-Dry, Glaciate, Headlong Rush, Hyperspace Hole, Ice Spinner, Icicle Crash, Land's Wrath, Lumina Crash, Meteor Beam, Mortal Spin, Origin Pulse, Photon Geyser, Power-Up Punch, Precipice Blades, Psychic Fangs, Psyshock, Psystrike, Quiver Dance, Sacred Sword, Salt Cure, Secret Sword, Shell Side Arm, Snowscape, Stomping Tantrum, Stone Axe, Surging Strikes, Thousand Arrows, Thousand Waves, Thunderous Kick, Triple Axel, Triple Dive, Victory Dance, Water Shuriken, Wave Crash, Wide Guard, Wonder Room and many more.

NEW: PC AND GLOBAL BOX

  • 28 PC boxes instead of 18. ALL BOXES shows all 28, seven to a row. Older saves start the ten new boxes empty. In Nuzlocke, the Graveyard moves to the new last boxes.
  • GLOBAL BOX in the Pokémon Center PC: a new entry in the PC's first list opens your boxes straight on the Global Box.
  • GLOBAL BOX on the title menu (after SETTINGS): look inside your Global Box, its Pokémon and items, without loading a world. Looking only; moving things still happens at a Pokémon Center PC.

NEW: FIELD AND MULTIPLAYER

  • Your codes are hidden (from your suggestion #242): friend codes and direct connect codes now show as stars, so they can't leak on a stream or a screenshot. Press SHOW to see the code and HIDE to cover it again. COPY works while it is hidden. The code is hidden again each time you open the page, and the game no longer writes your friend code in its messages.
  • Small Pokétch on the field (your suggestion #235): a small Pokétch at the right edge of the screen, under the map, showing the app you used last. Use it with the mouse. Its side button or the mouse wheel changes apps, and its arrow, Shift or Tab puts it away. Every app is resized to fit: the calculator, the move tester, the calendar, PARTY and FRIENDSHIP (icons with bars and hearts), and the marking map.
  • Friends' walking Pokémon: in co-op you now see your friends' walking Pokémon behind them, not just your own.
  • Rival battles for everyone: when a friend beat Barry first, he could disappear for everyone else. Barry on Route 203, in the Route 209 gate and in the Pokémon League's Pokémon Center is now each player's own battle. (Pastoria City and Canalave City come in the next update.)
  • Naming page (your suggestion #237): a SPACE key on the on-screen keyboard, and the Y button types a space.
  • A day in an hour: a whole day, morning to night, now passes in one real hour. The clock under the map and the Pokétch show the game's time, and the sky, the light and the Pokémon you meet follow it. Daily events still come once a real day. Turn it off with DAY LENGTH in the world's settings (REAL TIME follows your PC's clock, as before). Friends in your world play by your setting, and the Online city is always on the one-hour day.
  • New worlds start with LEVEL CAPS off. You can still turn it on in a world's settings.
  • LESS MOTION now also calms the HM tool effects and the server news banner.
  • SCREEN MODE in SETTINGS: WINDOW, FULL SCREEN or BORDERLESS. BORDERLESS fills your screen and switches to other windows at once (it's how full screen worked before, and stays the start). FULL SCREEN gives the screen to the game alone. F11 and Alt+Enter still switch between a window and the one you picked.

LAUNCHER 0.1.18

  • PLAY OFFLINE: a small arrow next to Play opens a PLAY OFFLINE button. It starts the game without the internet: no update check and no sign-in. Offline, only local play works: your own world, and friends on your home network. In the game, Online says "Playing offline" and how to go back online (close the game and press Play). Worlds you've played online open as an offline copy (see FAIR PLAY).
  • Downloading the same update twice at once no longer fails. The second download now waits for the first.
