Before you download

We’re currently getting the game and launcher digitally signed. Until that’s finished, Windows or your security app may warn about Setup or block it (see Need help? below). Setup downloads the launcher files over the internet; the launcher also downloads the game and its updates.

If you’re concerned, you can wait until the signed release is available.

Before you start

Join the Platinum Together Discord server and accept its rules. The launcher signs you in with your Discord account, and anyone in the server can play.

Installing the launcher

  1. Save PlatinumTogether-Setup.exe, then open it.
  2. Choose Install launcher and keep Setup open while it downloads.
  3. Choose Open launcher when Setup finishes, then sign in with your Discord username. You will need your own Platinum ROM to install the game.

Already playing? Open your existing launcher for updates before reinstalling. Keep your game folder and saves.

Check your download

The file must be named PlatinumTogether-Setup.exe and have this SHA-256 code:

To check it, open PowerShell in the folder with the file and run:

Get-FileHash .\PlatinumTogether-Setup.exe

The Hash it shows must match the code above. Upper or lower case does not matter. If it does not match, delete the file and download it again from this page.

Edge says “Virus detected” or “Download error”

This usually means Microsoft Defender stopped the download. Some security apps, including Microsoft Defender, have flagged this Setup. Microsoft and the other security companies are being asked to review it.

Do not turn off your protection, and do not restore or allow the blocked file. Check the Discord server for news, or report the exact message.

Windows protected your PC

Setup is new and not signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you before it opens. This is not a virus warning. First check your download (see above). If it matches, choose More info, then Run anyway. Only do this for Setup you downloaded from this page.

If your security app says it found a threat, do not open Setup. Keep protection enabled and send us the exact warning.

Setup could not finish

Try again once. If it still fails, keep the exact error message and a screenshot. If Setup offers Open setup report or Copy report, include that report with your support request.

The older message about connection and disk space does not tell us which one failed. Do not delete your game or saves to troubleshoot it.

The website or download will not connect

Check your PC's date and time. A network filter, security app, or service outage can interrupt a download. Note whether this page also fails in your browser, and include that detail with your report.

Check your security app's blocked items or Protection history. Keep protection enabled; send the exact warning so we can investigate.

I reinstalled, but an old launcher opens

Open the launcher from the desktop or Start menu shortcut created by Setup. If a taskbar pin opens an older copy, unpin it, open the current launcher, then pin that window.
